The weather is perfect today – not too hot, not too humid, a light breeze is blowing and there isn’t a cloud in the sky…
On days like today, the clock runs a little slower. Days are spent outside, away from TVs, computers, cell phones and game consoles.
Days like today find people doing timeless things: digging in the garden, sitting under shady trees, drinking lemonade and finding refreshment at the water’s edge.
In the quite, unhurried nowhere time of mid-afternoon, I am reminded of my childhood and how summer stretched on forever.
There is something transcendental about these perfect summer days – I know that people long ago felt the same breezes, heard the same hum of cicadas and longed for a cool swimming hole to dip their toes in the water.
On that note, I am going to share some old family photos that show my grandparents in the early 1920s finding the same pleasures on a hot summer day. Maybe some of these activities will inspire you to walk away from your computer and capture the magic of this beautiful summer day:
Whatever you choose to do, I hope you enjoy this beautiful day…
